Field work in SW Utah

The Rothfels and Rushworth Labs headed to SW Utah for 10 days of fieldwork in the deserts and the mountains.

We camped at 5 different locations over 10+ days, collecting and documenting plants in desert and mountain habitats.

Lab PI Carl and graduate student Julia are looking at a single leaf ash, *Fraxinus anomala*, a genus which you may be surprise to come across in the Mojave Desert!

Here is a bit of pinnacled crust with *Syntrichia* and dark cyanobacteria.
